THE BANNED BOOK LIBRARY

ARCHITECTURAL PROJECTION MAPPING
THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA - THEATRE BUILDING

Content created in Autodesk Sketchbook, Adobe AfterEffects, and Isadora.

Iowa is second in the country for most books banned in public schools, with over 3,400 books getting pulled from K-12 shelves due to intentionally vague language in SF 496. By projecting and magnifying passages deemed “offensive” from banned titles on a building at an academic institution, this challenges SF 496 and creates dialogue about what literary education Iowa’s students are missing out on due to government restrictions.
